Northbrook Baptist Church was established as Crossroads Baptist Mission by Boiling
Springs Baptist Church on May 3, 1959. Facilities provided by Boiling Springs Church
included a cement block store building and two four room houses located on one half
acre of land at Shoally Creek Road.

In 1960 an additional one and one half acres were purchased to allow for future
expansion of the mission church. And in September of 1963 a six and one-half acre
tract of land with a six room frame dwelling was purchased by the Mission for future
location at the corner of Boiling Springs and Shoally Creek Roads. And on May 3, 1965
Crossroads Mission was organized as Northbrook Baptist Church. The date the Northbrook
congregation was organized was the sixth anniversary of the Mission. There were 109
charter members.

In June 1968 the church voted to purchase a house on Melody Lane for use as a church
parsonage.  Also in July of 1968 the church voted to build the first permanent building
and was completed in 1969.  The building served as an education and worship center.
On June 24, 1973 the church broke ground on a 430 seat sanctuary.

On April 27, 2003 the church voted to build a 24,000 square feet building consisting of
an 837 seat sanctuary and 30 classrooms. The building was built by Roebuck Builders
at a cost of $2,059,000 and after pews and furniture the cost totaled 2.3 million dollars.
The dedication celebration for the new building was October 10, 2004.

There have been five pastors who have served the Northbrook congregation. They
include Troy Petty, 1964-1973; Bill Adams, 1973-1981; Dean Poteat, 1982-1984;
Ralph Brown, 1985-2001 and Wayne Dickard, 2002-present.
