Hear from our Children’s Director...
With summer coming to an end, it is almost impossible not to sit and reflect on the awesome times we have had with Northbrook Kidz this summer. We had a great time at MEGA SPORTS CAMP learning new skills in baseball, basketball, or cheerleading and learning about the life of Paul. We met many new faces during this event and saw several children saved. In the month of June our children went to Camp Pinehill. The theme of this week was being transformed by Jesus. The kids who went, came back exhausted, but with many stories about how much fun they had and things that they had learned and what God had taught them throughout the week. In July, we had VBS, which is always an exciting time in the life of our church. This year’s theme was the Big Apple Adventure. Needless to say, the kids learned a lot about New York City, but more importantly than that, they learned about Jesus. The motto of the week was Hear It, Believe It, Connect It!! The kids did just that. With each Bible story that they heard, they were also taught how to apply it or connect it to their own lives. We had many children saved through VBS at Northbrook. At the beginning of August, Northbrook Kidz had the opportunity to come to our Summer Son Day Camp. We had a blast. Each day of the camp was based off of a reality TV show. The kidz competed in team competitions, had small group times, and much more. With each theme day, the children heard a Bible story that related to the theme and could also be applied to their lives when going back to school. Our children know what it means to be a light on their campuses and its so encouraging to hear their stories of how God uses then at their schools. This summer on Wednesday nights we had GA’s, RA’s and Mission Friends. Having not done children’s mission groups at Northbrook in several years, I was worried as to how they would like it. However, the children loved it!! They learned a lot about missionaries around the world, and here at home. Several of our groups did mission projects of their own. Thanks to everyone who worked in any of these ministries this summer. God is doing great things through our children and thank you for spending your time to invest in their lives. Even though summer time is wrapping up, our Children’s Ministry is not going to slow down any. This past Wednesday, we had our AWANA Kick-Off night with over fifty children present. I look forward to wee what God has in store for our AWANA ministry this year. I believe that we have the potential to double fifty by the end of the year. Parents bring your kids to AWANA Wednesday’s at 6:30 PM/ Also, our Children’s Choirs are starting back on September 18th at 5:00 PM right before the Evening Worship. We will have a choir for 1st thru 6th Grade and new this year, a choir for preschool. Parents, I encourage you to bring your children to Children’s Choir. Summer’s ending, but God has a lot in store for Northbrook Kidz this school year. Please be in prayer for our children as they have started back to school, and pray for our Children’s ministry as we try to reach children in our community for Christ, and disciple those who are already Christians.
Working for Him, Deandra
